By 2022, there was a 34% increase in online purchases compared to 2020, and their total value increased 43%, from €10.3 billion in 2020 to €14.7 billion in 2022 (source: BeCommerce).
These figures show that there was a major shift in the e-commerce world.
It is no surprise that ShopWeDo has felt this as well.
To respond to the rising demand for our services, we significantly expanded our AutoStore, our robotized stocking system.
We approached this strategically and purposefully in several ways.
First, we purchased additional storage units in the form of plastic bins, which we placed in the AutoStore. These bins provide storage space for different goods and can be easily picked up by the robots and delivered to the picking gates. . We also added several new robots that dig out the totes and bring the requested goods to the picking gates. Thanks to these additional robots, we have increased our picking capacity by as much as 40%.
However, the expansion of storage units and robots is not the only aspect we have taken into account. We also reinvested in additional picking gates. When an employee scans an order, our robot immediately springs into action and brings the retrieved goods to the employee at the picking gate. Adding additional picking gates allows us to significantly reduce our processing time, a great benefit to our customers and end customers.
Moreover, this expansion has provided additional employment. Our warehouse team has now grown to a team of 25 employees from the region. We would like to be our partner, Lalesse, for the smooth integration of these expansions.
