\"\" Last May, we opened our first e-fulfilment center in West Flanders<\/a>.
\nA strategic hub in the inner port of Ostend that had been planned earlier.
\nIts opening was eventually brought forward by a month.
\nThe cause?
\nA sudden increase in demand for e-commerce during the initial lockdown.
\nWork was done day and night to ensure the accelerated startup. <\/span><\/p>\n

Warehouse Ostend <\/span><\/h4>\n
Capacity<\/strong><\/h5>\n

In our ShopWeDo warehouse in Ostend<\/a> there is room for 3,300 shelf locations and 1,200 pallet locations.
\nIn the meantime, a lot has changed in 1 year.
\nWhat started in 2020 with an empty space is now filling up nicely.
\nIn addition, there are still plenty of expansion opportunities available for the future to scale up our operations there. <\/span><\/p>\n

Strong duo<\/strong><\/h5>\n

Team Ostend consists of two men for now.
\nBart and Michael joined ShopWeDo to keep the hub on the coast running. Warehouse manager Bart<\/a> won’t soon forget his first week in Ostend.
\nShortly after the opening, he received support from Michael<\/a>.
\nSoon you will see Michael appearing in our Meet the team section, be sure to keep an eye on it. <\/span><\/p>\n

“I was the first and worked there all by myself in the beginning. The day before the opening I still did the inbound with Kenny. Then it was up to me. In the end, you’re still 150 km from everyone (in Mechelen).” – Bart<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Attractive location<\/strong><\/h5>\n

The branch on the coast is not accidentally located in Ostend.
\nThe management was already <\/span>familiar with the region and the warehouse is in an interesting logistics location (near E40, Ostend airport and the port of Zeebrugge).
\nFrom the beginning it was chosen not to work from one huge warehouse.
\nThe different locations give more flexibility to adapt the service to the customer or region. <\/span><\/p>\n

Location-independent e-WMS<\/strong><\/h5>\n

ShopWeDo Ostend is about +\/- 150 km from the main location in Mechelen, yet the distance is not a bottleneck.
\nOur e-WMS was developed in such a way that the software does not depend on location<\/a>. <\/span><\/p>\n
