Do you sell through your webshop or marketplaces (such as <\/span>Amazon<\/b><\/a> or <\/span>bol.com<\/b><\/a>) also to foreign consumers in the EU?
\nOnline you can easily reach millions of customers, which creates new opportunities for your e-business.
\nAt the same time, this brings additional <\/span>VAT administration<\/b> with it and the competition from <\/span>cheap webshops<\/b> from <\/span>outside the European Union<\/b> high. <\/span>For this reason, on <\/span>July 1<\/b> new rules go into effect for <\/span>cross-border e-commerce<\/b>.
\nOnderstaande <\/span>New European VAT directive<\/b> has no impact on your webshop or sales on marketplaces if you only deliver to Belgian individuals. \"\"<\/span> <\/p>\n

2 important changes:<\/b><\/h3>\n

Selling within EU<\/b><\/h4>\n
Current rules:<\/b><\/h5>\n

If you sell today as a Belgian entrepreneur to customers in other EU member states, you come into contact with different VAT regimes.
\nFor <\/span>B2C e-commerce<\/b> now each member state individually determines the<\/span> annual turnover threshold<\/b>.

\nIf you generate more turnover in a country than the specified limit, then a local VAT number with corresponding returns and payments is required.

Adjustment as of July 1, 2021:<\/b><\/h5>\n

On July 1, individual thresholds will be replaced by <\/span>one<\/b> overarching <\/span>threshold<\/b> of <\/span>10,000 euros<\/b> excl.
\nVAT applicable to <\/span>all<\/b> B2C intra-EU distance sales <\/span>together<\/b>.
\nAangezien de <\/span>new frontier<\/b> for <\/span>total foreign sales<\/b> within the <\/span>EU<\/b> is much lower, companies will have to pay foreign VAT more quickly than before.
\nAbove this limit, you have to charge local VAT rates of the end customer instead of Belgian VAT. <\/span><\/p>\n

On web shops it is mandatory to show prices including VAT when selling to consumers.
\nFor non-Belgian customers, you can then choose to show them the local VAT immediately or show the price incl.
\nBelgian VAT.
\nIn the latter case, you take the VAT difference into account when completing the order. <\/span><\/p>\n

To simplify the remittance of foreign VAT due, the <\/span>One Stop Shop(OSS<\/a>).<\/b> launched.
\nThanks to the <\/span>one-stop shop<\/b> intra-community VAT can be collected on a <\/span>quarterly<\/b> be remitted via <\/span>a centralized VAT declaration <\/b> and local registrations and declarations become unnecessary.
\nThe Belgian declaration will then show the sales per member state with corresponding VAT.
\nCompanies in our country can submit this OSS declaration via the <\/span>Intervat<\/b><\/a> portal.

Import from outside EU<\/b><\/h4>\n

Another important change taking effect from July 1 is the regulations regarding <\/span>import <\/b>of goods <\/span>outside the EU<\/b>.
\nGoedkope webshops, vaak Chinese webshops, genieten momenteel van een btw-vrijstelling voor goederen met een totale waarde tot <\/span>22 euros<\/b>.
\nVoor zendingen met hogere waarde dient de klant de verschuldigde btw te betalen op het moment de levering, wat vaak voor onaangename verrassingen zorgt. <\/span><\/p>\n

Because this VAT exemption <\/span>unfair competition<\/b> causes, this advantage for foreign e-commerce players is eliminated.
\nThus, the European Commission wants to create a level playing field by <\/span>Impose VAT on every sale to consumers in the EU<\/b>.

For non-EU sellers, a simplified system will also come into effect to deduct VAT on online sales with a maximum value of <\/span>150 euros<\/b> comply.
